The broad aim of the Koala Genome Consortium is to supplement the many and diverse research programs already in existence for the koala. More specifically we aim to generate a high coverage and high quality genome assembly that will be a useful resource for koala research. We also aim to substantially expand the accessibility of Next Generation Sequencing technology and bioinformatics in Australia.
The Koala Genome Consortium will hold workshops in 2013 to map out the assembly and annotation program for the koala genome project.
